Installing Dynamics CRM 2013 on Windows Server 2012

  1. To know about the software and the hardware requirements you can download the CRM 2013 Implementation guide and go through the Planning guide.
  2. First download the Dynamics CRM 2013 Server setup files.
  3. Run Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server with ‘Run as Administrator’ 
  4. Within the CRM Server 2013 Setup page, it is recommend that you click Get updates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Then Click Next.

  5. The next step is to enter the product key. You may insert a valid commercial product key. (Or use the trial key)

  6.  Next review the License Agreement page, and if you accept the license agreement, check the I accept this license agreement, and then click I Accept.
  7. Next page will prompt you the required components to be installed. If you have not installed the required components listed, you can install them at that time. Click Install. When the components are installed, the status column will change from Not Installed to Installed, and you can click Next to continue.

  8. Select the installation location, and then click Next.

  9. Then you can specify the server roles to install in the current server.

  10. On the Specify Deployment Options page, select the name of the computer that is running SQL Server to use the deployment box. MSCRM_CONFIG database will be installed in this instance of Microsoft SQL Server.

  11. Select the location where you want the Microsoft Dynamics CRM organizational unit to be installed.

    If you are getting the error “Unable to browse for active directory objects” while “Select the Organization Unit” step, make sure you have configured AD and your server is in the correct domain. You would not be able to install CRM without using AD because of Microsoft’s requirements to installation of CRM is to having a user with domain and AD admin rights. You can refer following links when configuring AD.

  13. Then click Create a new Web site or click Select a Web Site and select a website from the list. (By default, Setup will use the default website. And TCP default port number is 5555.

  14. Specify E-mail Router Settings. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh699800.aspx) If you will not install the Email Router you can leave this box blank.

  15. Specify Organization Settings
    • Display Name
    • Unique Database Name
    • ISO currency code
    • SQL collation

  17. System Checks

    Then page lists all services that will be stopped or restarted during Setup.

    • .Net TCP port sharing service
    • Windows process activation service
    • World Wide Web publishing service
  18. On Ready to Install Microsoft Dynamics CRM page click Install.
  19. Once the installation is successful you can go to the CRM URL within your browser.
